Jamison Spencer, DMD, MS

Dr. Spencer is currently the director of The Center for Sleep Apnea and TMJ in Boise Idaho, and the Director of Dental Sleep Medicine services for the over 27 practices of Lane and Associates Family Dentistry in North Carolina.  He is adjunct faculty at Tufts University, and heads "mini-residency" programs in Dental Sleep Medicine at both Tufts University (taking registrations now for the 7th year of the program), and University of the Pacific (starting in 2016).  He is the past president of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Craniofacial Pain, the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, and the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Spencer is a thought leader in the field of craniofacial disorders, which include nocturnal airway problems and Dental Sleep Medicine issues.  "Dental Sleep Medicine" appears to many to be a new field within dentistry, but those who have been treating craniofacial pain problems and TMJ disorders have always been aware of the importance of protecting the airway.  For those dentists getting involved or wanting to get involved in treating patients who snore and/or have sleep apnea, oral appliance therapy is EASY--AS LONG AS YOU COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND TMJ DISORDERS.  The problem is...very few dentists understand TMD and craniofacial pain, but they want to treat their patients for their sleep problems.  The good news is that sleep problems and TMD go together, and Dr. Spencer has been on the forefront of teaching dentists and physicians alike how to screen, evaluate and help their patients with these problems.
