Streaming - Ergonomics – Reduce or Eliminate Pain from your Practice Day
Gordon J. Christensen, DDS, MSD, PhD
Up to 80% of practitioners have pain and/or dysfunction in their back. Much of this debilitating challenge can be avoided! Mature dentists often comment on how much better their older equipment, operator and assistant chairs, and patient operating chairs are than newer versions. What has happened to the design of these and other items? Are there ergonomic principles and present equipment that practitioners should know and should use?
This video demonstrates well-known, long proven ergonomic principles that seem to have been forgotten by many current dental manufacturers and blends them with current research about standing vs. sitting. Properly designed equipment is demonstrated. Emphasis is placed not only on prevention of body pain related to improper practicing posture, but how to relieve current pain. Every practitioner, both young and mature, will benefit by implementing principles of proper ergonomics while practicing.
