Some of the course objectives include: improving your ability to better identify and treat the six commonly occurring abnormal occlusal conditions, accomplishing occlusal equilibration routinely, treating TMD, delegating occlusal splint construction and placement, making a splint for yourself, and treating abfractions simply and effectively. Behaviorial Objectives
At the completion of this course participants should be able to:
  • Identify, diagnose, treatment plan, and treat primary occlusal trauma, secondary occlusal trauma, clenching, bruxism, TMD, and abfractions.
  • Describe the ideal characteristics of an optimum occlusal splint.
  • Make an occlusal splint.
  • List the necessary equipment and the clinical steps involved with occlusal equilibration.
  • Describe the uses of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.
  • Discuss how to incorporate occlusal diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment into a typical general practice or specialty practice.
  • List ten clinical techniques in which you want to involve more attention to and activity in occlusal concepts.
